..lovefool..

When the sky is blue and the clouds are out, that is when you should go out and take a walk about.

In 1991, when I was 5 years old, our family moved to Belgium to follow my dad, who was about to do his specialization in neurosurgery at the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, which you can guess by now, is located in the city of Leuven, Belgium. You see, my dad went to Dutch language classes countless times before we moved there, my mum didnt take those classes, me and my sister also didnt. But as I remember, when we went to school there and became friends with them, it took as maybe around 2 or 3 months to master the language. I guess kids do that. They dont even teach us to speak the Dutch language. We just learned it, naturally. My sister was 2. And she spoke Dutch fluently like a little Belgian toddler. And I just thought, who the heck taught her that? Kindergarten did that to her? My mum took Dutch language classes when we arrived there, and she could speak moderately at best.

Leuven is a beautiful old city.

I for once, eventhough I was only 5 then and came back to Malaysia when I was 9, absolutely think that living in Belgium was one of my best memories in my life. During school holiday, we went to Scotland to visit my uncle and aunt, England, France where we went to Disneyland and the royal France palaces, Germany, the snowy tops of Switzerland, the beautiful tulips of the Netherlands, and so on.

Now everybody wants a yellow helmet.

We had cable television. Which was how I learned English. Seriously. I watched World Cup 94, Formula 1 races when Nigel Mansell, Alain Prost and the great Ayrton Senna was fighting each other, countless box office movies and cartoons, all in English. My school doesnt teach the subject English. So it was kinda weird that I learned English all from the idiot box.

My dad used a bicycle to go to the hospital. It wasnt far away though.

I had great friends when I was there. We were 3 good friends, me, Stephane and Nicky. Not surprisingly, they were all guys. Although I did had a little crush on a classmate named Laura haha.. =p We were such good friends that I even went to Stephane's house to play board games sometimes on the weekend. It was good times. There were no bullies or nerds or anything, everyone was friends. Every Wednesday, it was mandatory for us to go to swimming class. I learned how to swim, which was very useful, but until now, I still dont know how to float damn it. But atleast I can swim.

Theres so much I want to talk about, but I just cant remember right now. Perhaps I'll add on later. Cheers. Have a great weekend!
